When we think of the expression making a difference we tend to think of people who have had a positive impact in our lives. Well, this time we want to present to you Making A Difference of Lebanon PA, a non profit organization founded by three individuals in a kitchen table. One of this individuals who was in this kitchen is Cornell Wilson, the current president of the organization.
Cornell is from Black and Puerto Rican descent and in a city like Lebanon where there is a large Latinx and some Blacks, his presence sets a standard of a good man who seeks to serve others. Making a Difference is not a new organization, they have been around for 8 years. At the beginning they started with small activities like community cleanups and get togethers at the Beautex park.
Making a Difference is an organization that is here to stay “I hope we are around in the next 10 years and hopefully in the future we are able to have paid employees and a larger space because we have taken on larger initiatives” said Wilson. Making A Difference is already the host of two big community events, these are the Adopt a Family For Christmas and the Community Christmas Meal. One of the programs Cornell wants to see grow is their STEM program which helps the youth become more competent around topics in the technology industry.
The goal of Making a Difference is to be of service to the community and the families that are in need. According to Cornell, the community is lucky to have generous people who support their community projects with the vision to make Lebanon a better place.
