Adam Levine is running out of real estate on his body for tattoos, but it looks like he found a new spot. The Maroon 5 frontman took to Instagram on Monday to share a close-up on his newest ink: a butterfly trapped in a cobweb that is directly centered on the artist’s neck.
In addition to the bold new ink, the 42-year-old singer dyed his buzzed hairdo a bright light blue, which he debuted during a run of Maroon 5 live shows this week. Glimpses of Levine’s new hairstyle can be temporarily seen on his Instagram Stories. Levine has never been afraid to experiment with different looks throughout his career — a brief scroll through his Instagram posts will showcase multiple hair hues and styles. From Mohawks to blond hair to buzzcuts, Levine always seems eager to share interesting new looks.
“Wise man once said…’when Instagram goes down…tattoo your throat’…,” Levine’s Instagram caption reads, including a shout-out to that “wise man”: tattoo artist Nathan Kostechko. It sounds like Levine took advantage of Monday’s worldwide outages on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to get some fresh ink.
Kostechko also shared his thoughts on Levine’s new tattoo, proclaiming that he “really went for it” on an Instagram post showing the new ink and hairstyle.
The former The Voice coach has been on the road with his Maroon 5 bandmates on tour in support of their seventh studio effort Jordi, which is set to conclude Friday at the Concord Pavillion in Concord, Calif. This rescheduled tour came along after the COVID-19 pandemic postponed their 2020 headlining tour, while also serving as a touching tribute to the band’s late manager Jordan Feldstein, the subject of Jordi’s album title, who died unexpectedly in late 2017.
